An Autumn Look

Hello, everyone! It's that time of year again when the leaves turn shades of orange and you dig out your collection of warm, fluffy jumpers. I can't be the only one who loves Autumn, right? Today I am writing a little post about an Autumn look that I am absolutely loving!

I am loving the colour grey at the moment. Pair it with a cosy, tartan scarf and some black jeans or black leggings. I got this tartan scarf from Primark for £5, bargain!

Cute frills on your socks always adds a little uniqueness to your outfit. Since it gets colder in Autumn I have started wearing my black ankle boots that are so comfy just to slip on.

Carrying on the grey theme, I painted my nails with Barry M Gelly Nail Polish in the colour Chai. This nail polishes is one of my all time favourites, as well as the colour being gorgeous, it lasts for a long time!

Thank you for reading this post and I hope you are all having a super week! I love experimenting with different outfits in Autumn as the colours are gorgeous and jumpers are my favourite thing ever! Write in the comments what your favourite thing about Autumn is, I would love to know!

Baking a Rainbow Cake

Hello everyone! I watched a vlog by Zoella in March of her birthday and she had a rainbow cake. It was then my goal to make a rainbow cake so I called over my friend and we set to it not expecting it to turn out as well as it did. I thought I would share the recipe with you all because it was so much fun to make! This recipe makes 6 layers (one for each colour!) I also did mine with gluten free flour but you can use normal flour :) So grab a friend, an apron and lets get baking!

You will need:
  • 300g self raising flour
  • 300g margarine
  • 300g granulated or caster sugar
  • 6 eggs (free ranged!)
  • 2tsp baking powder
  • 2tsp vanilla extract
  • whipping cream (for inside)
Preheat your oven to 180 (fan oven) Gas Mark 4.

Step 1:
I am always one for the 'all in one' method but if you have baked cakes before and have found a different method better for you then use that. But I just put all my ingredients in a large mixing bowl and whisked until light and creamy.

Step 2: Separate your mixture into 6 equal different bowls (one for each colour!) And carefully add your colouring into each mix. Be careful! Some colourings can be stronger than others and you don't want to end up with the wrong colours.

Step 3: Once you have your desired colours then grease 6 round baking tins or line them with baking paper. Then spoon your mixtures into separate tins and pop them in the oven!

Step 4: Whilst your cakes are in the oven for aprox. 15 - 20 minutes (if you have a small oven you will have to do them in two batches) you can get to making the butter icing.

You will need:
  • 175g icing sugar
  • 75g butter (room temp)
  • a dash of milk
Weigh out the icing sugar and sieve it to rid all the lumps. Once all nicely sifted slowly, add the softened butter and beat in with a wooden spoon. This is always quite a work out ;) Afterwards you should end up with a lovely creamy butter icing. You can always add more icing sugar and butter if you prefer thick icing.

Step 5: If your cakes are still in the oven then grab another bowl and pour out your whipping cream. Then use an electric whisk (or a hand whisk if you prefer) to whip the cream. You have to be careful here as whipping cream is very easy to overdo. Whip until the cream is light, thick and stiff. At this point grab your cakes out the oven and place them on a cooling rack.

Step 6: Once your cakes are cool and you have taken them out of the tins then it is time to construct your rainbow cake. Start off with purple at the bottom and use whipped cream between each layer and work your way up through the rainbow. Purple, blue, green, yellow, orange and red.

Then grab your butter icing and start gently covering the cake. I started by covering the top with a flat spatula then used a piping bag for the edges. This gave a nice rippled effect on the sides. You don't have to cover the whole cake but I thought it would be nice because then there is the element of surprise when you cut open the cake. And to finish it off what more could you want then a good sprinkling of Hundreds & Thousands. Go crazy!

Thank you for reading this post! I have wanted to do this post for a while but I haven't because I'm not an expert baker but it was so fun making this and tasted delicious! I hope I have inspired you to make your own rainbow cake and I hope you are all having a brilliant week.

You can do it!

Hello again! Okay so this is a thing a lot of people struggle with. Whether it is getting out of bed in the morning or starting your growing pile of homework, it is an obstacle you have to overcome. So here are a few tips to help you boost your motivation.

1. Lists, lists, lists...
You may of heard this thousands of times from other people but honestly just writing one simple To Do List can help. Just the feeling of ticking something off is great, right? Having a list book or even a specific notebook can help this. When you have a list in front of you at the start of the day it just makes the end even more achievable.

2. Turn off all social media.
I know crazy, right? Today we live in a generation where social media is a massive part of our lives. I am guilty of just sitting on my phone; scrolling though twitter, instagram, facebook. Admittedly, yes, isn't it so much more fun scrolling through feeds curled up on the couch than sitting at a desk and writing an 1000 word essay? It may be easier to not do it but if it's revising or homework, you are going to HAVE to do it sometime, better now than the night before.

3. Make a space.
Having a special place you can sit down to work at is important. If you sit slouched on your sofa or bed doing homework you won't be in the right mindset. Have a desk or table you can sit at comfortably and make that desk pleasant to sit at; maybe decorate it with nice pencil pots, photos, fairy lights, sticky notes.

Thank you for reading this post. I feel myself sometimes just sitting, waiting for something to happen when really I should just do it. And maybe if your heart really isn't in something then don't do it. Or maybe schedule it for another day. I hope you are all having a brilliant week and for all of those that just went back to school, I hope it went well and I wish you all the luck for this year. I know it can be terrifying having to face it again after a beautiful, long holiday but I believe in every single one of you.

The Autumn Tag

Hello you beautiful people, I hope you are all having a brilliant Sunday! Today I am bringing you the Autumn Tag. This is a collaboration with the wonderful blogger Nia Ffion who is only just starting out as a blogger so I want everyone to go and check out her blog and give her some love and support. Her blog is a beauty, fashion and lifestyle blog. She also has a beautiful YouTube channel which I definitely recommend checking out too.

Anyway without further ado on with the post!

For Autumn what is your...

Favourite thing about it?
For me Autumn is all about the transition from Summer to Winter. I love how the nights get darker, the trees turn beautiful colours and Christmas is on the horizon. In the evenings you can snuggle up, have a hot drink (tea or hot chocolate) and watch annual autumn shows like Strictly Come Dancing and The Great British Bake Off!

Favourite drink?
A cup of tea is my all time 'go to' drink.

Favourite candle?
I absolutely love the Black Cherry candle by Yankee Candle. It is a lovely 'not too sweet' smell and reminds me of dark evenings in Autumn.

Favourite lipstick?
I am not one to always wear lipstick so I usually shy away from the beautiful berry shades and stick to my Rimmel Kate Moss 038 which is a perfect nude colour.

Go to moisturiser?
I always use the Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturiser as it is perfect for my skin and I use it all year round.

Go to colours for the eyes?
I tend to stick to browns/bronzes because I find they suit my eyes the best.

Favourite band or singer?
I haven't been loving a particular band recently but I have been listening to soundtracks of some of my favourite films e.g Paper Towns or The Fault in our Stars

Favourite outfit to wear?
In Autumn I like to stick to black skinny jeans, with a baggy grey jumper maybe paired with a tartan scarf and then my old burgundy converse which I love to bits. If it's cold I may put on a beanie or slouchy bobble hat.

Autumn treat?
I wouldn't really say I have an autumn treat but I do like to have more baths in Autumn since the colder weather. I always love to get a Lush bath bomb too as they are gorgeous!

Favourtie place to be?
My favourite place to be would either be in the woods near my house with my camera as the colours there are amazing in the Autumn. Or it would be in my house in front of the fire watching a film with a cup of tea.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope you are all as excited for Autumn as I am and thank you Nia for collabing on this post with me, be sure to check her answers out.

Little Things To Make YOU Happy.

1. Making playlists on Youtube of your favourite things.
Whether it is a music video or just your favourite video of your idol, make it so when you are feeling down you can just press play and fall into a world full of all your favourite things and forget about the thing that is bringing you down. I always make playlists like this and then I can look back after a couple of months and get reminded of all the little things I loved. You also have to remember that it doesn't have to be recent videos either, they can be really old songs or something that triggers happy memories.

2. Writing lists.
Lists aren't just there for organising things, I write them all the time just to clear my mind. Maybe write a list of things you are looking forward to or things that are making you feel sad so you can put them in perspective. Having a special notepad or a book that you can write them down in can help as it makes them more precious. Paperchase is a great store to purchase stationery items as they are all beautiful designs and not too on the pricey side.

3. Having a folder of happiness.
I find Pinterest a great website to gather up pictures that I love and to present them in a board which I can then easily access whenever I want. You can pin pictures of anything; people who make you happy, food, music & bands, places in the world, artwork and photography. If you wanted something more personal or you don't have Pinterest then make a file on your phone or computer of photos that make you happy or photos that trigger happy memories that you have taken yourself. Then if you ever feel down then all you have to do is open the file, put on some of your favourite music and browse through the file reminding you of happy places and memories.

4. Call a friend.
This is so important. If you are ever feeling down or upset, you should never have to do it alone. Just call or text a friend and talk it through and if you don't want to talk about it, arrange to go shopping or have a sleepover just something to take your mind off things. You will be surprised how much better you will feel after a good day out with friends or family, just have a laugh and push the negative aside.

5. Treat yourself.
Now and again we all have to treat ourselves. Whether it is a big, bubble bath or just buying a desired mascara you have wanted for ages, it still counts. You always have to remember to treat yourself, it is a vital thing! You, yourself, are a human being and we can't wall work constantly for 24/7 so make sure you make time for yourself. Me time; watch your favourite musical, paint your nails neon orange, make an extra large hot chocolate, grab every blanket and cushion you can get your hands on and build a fort, curl up and read an 1000 page novel. No one is stopping you.

Thank you for reading this post. I hope you are having a brilliant week and you just have to remember you are a human being, you can't take the whole world in one day.

A Work In Progress - Connor Franta

Since it's the summer holidays I have been reading a lot more books and one of my favourtie has been A Work In Progress by Connor Franta. Some of you may be familiar with Connor since he is an American youtuber and he has recently written a book. His youtube channel focuses around lifestyle, arty videos and a couple of collabs with other youtubers chucked in now and again. Overall his channel is a wonderful section of the big expanse that is the internet. He is nearly at 5 million subscribers, just think of how many people that is...Anyway very alike his channel, his book is fulled with positive advice and inspirational content.

First off I want to just talk about the presentation of this book. Beautiful. The cover is minimalist but extremely effective; it definitely catches eyes. The photos throughout the book are all taken by him and they remind me very much of Instagram photos. His book is like a beautifully presented Instagram page with an inspiring story along with it.

Connor's book is about his life, from the very day he was born to where he is now, and believe me it is a story worth telling. He goes through the ups and downs of friendships, relationships, school, hobbies, the future, jobs and overall just being yourself. I think everyone would come away from this book inspired and they would look at the world differently. Here is one quote from the book by Connor that I think everyone needs to know:

'What makes us even more magnificent as a species is that we are lucky enough to be uniquely different - and it's THAT individuality we must harness and celebrate.'

There are only a few words to describe this book: Beautiful, inspiring and change. This book proves that giving up isn't the only answer and sometimes you just have to remember how lucky you are. I'm not the best at giving advice so I will leave that up to Connor when you read his book. Thank you for reading and I hope you are all have an amazing summer!

The little town of Stamford

Hello! Recently my family and I took a trip to the little town of Stamford. It has beautiful picturesque streets and is famous for its appearance in the film Pride & Prejudice which starred Keira Knightley. Whilst being there, knowing me, I took lots of photos and I mean lots. So I have chosen a few out of my collection to share with you.

-The London Inn-

-Town Square-

-Chapel with bell tower-

-The Millstone Inn-

-An old sign-

Throughout the summer I am hoping to visit lots of different places so please let me know if you would love another post like this one. I hope you are all having a brilliant summer!

No way has it been a year?

July the 10th. The day I sat in my bedroom; bored, enthusiastic and inspired. I had just finished reading a beautiful blog post by Zoella when I thought to myself; I want to create a space online where people from all over the world can read my thoughts. I want people to go away from my space smiling, so my blog was born. At first I was new, fresh to the idea and was so enthusiastic to start, promising to write every week. And I kept it up but of course I did slack sometimes and lost my confidence if my blog didn't get a certain amount of views or no comments. But that should never stop you! Now I write whenever I am inspired too, I want my blog to be the best quality and my 100% effort. Since starting my blog so much has happened and I have really enjoyed it. I want to start documenting my life a bit more and talk about events that are actually happening, I won't promise anything though! I hope you have enjoyed coming through the last year with me, I'm sure the future is filled with lots of exciting, new things.

Paperchase, Potter & Roses

So I have been very naughty and haven't posted in a month! Time has been whizzing by again. Today I just wanted to write a post about things that have been making me happy and that I have been loving recently (like a monthly favourites I suppose!)

Okay, first thing I have been absolutely loving is a YouTube channel. It's called RoseEllenDix and it's two girls (Rosie and Rose) and they just sit down in front of a camera and chat. Their videos are so laid back but in a good way, it feels like you are catching up with friends. They are funny and spread positivity, I always come away from their videos smiling. I definitely recommend you go check out their channel!

Another thing I have been loving is Harry Potter. Yes I am a Potter fan. I have watched it many times but my sister and I recently thought we would re-watch them all again over the summer. They just never get old, I lose myself in the wizarding world every time!

In my local city there has been a new Paperchase store opened and I love it! If you have never been in one or don't know what Paperchase is; it's a stationery store but it sells the most gorgeous stationery ever! One of the products I have purchased is the small 60p postcards they stock. They range from pastel ones with cute, inspirational quotes on them to ones with small illustrations, adorable! I am very guilty and have to admit I can't leave the store without purchasing one.

Music. I can't go a day without listening to music, it just brings so much more rhythm to your day. Recently I have been going back and listening to lots of older songs from a few years ago and they just trigger memories. Very nostalgic.

This is a bit different to your usually monthly/normal favourites but I just really wanted to share what I has been making me happy recently. I hope you all have a super July and make the most of the summery weather!

Is it Summer yet?

I am currently basking in the patch of sunlight that is streaming through our living room windows which makes me very happy! Seeing the sun again is like greeting an old friend. I think ice cream and iced tea are back on the menu! Today I just wanted to sit down and chat with you guys, I feel we have a bit of catching up to do.

Recently I have been listening to the new (last year..) Maroon 5 album and I've been loving it! My favourite tracks have been 'In Your Pocket' and 'Feelings', I totally advise you to give them a listen if you have any free time. As far as school life goes, it has been quite busy but luckily we are on the down hill stretch to the summer holidays and everyone who has had exams or have exams, good luck and I hope they all went well.

You may remember at the start of this year I created a post called '20 things to do in 2015' and I can happily say some of my aims have been done and crossed off! One of them was 'ice skating' and I have been twice this year and intend to go more! I dragged my friends on my birthday (after a cheeky nandos;) off to our nearest ice skating rink and it was great fun! Another one of my aims was to 'purchase a pair of converse' and I have and I absolutely love them to bits. They are the burgundy ox converse, love love love them! I wasn't going to mention this one because it seems a bit of a curse on the weather but I have built a snowman, back in February when it was so so cold! I look outside now at the warm sunlight and just can't imagine snow, feels like a different world.

Have you seen Pitch Perfect 2? If not, drop what you are doing, grab a friend and go watch it! I went with my friend a couple of weeks ago and loved it. It was a perfect sequel to the first one and had a great collection of songs. Now I wish I could sing acapella...I may need to be able to sing first though.

Back in the half term holiday, my mum and dad went away for the weekend leaving me and my sister to fend for ourselves...Of course I invited my friend round, we melted an extra large bar of dairy milk, grabbed cocktail sticks, grapes, popcorn, marshmallows, an apple (a healthy guilt reassurance) and took over the living room. This involved gathering all the throws, blankets, cushions and pillows we had in the house and piled them on top of the sofa bed. We watched The Other Woman (a hilarious comedy featuring Cameron Dias) and feasted on a chocolate fondue. We also played Super Mario Bros Wii (oh the nostalgia) late into the night. You may be thinking; 'what about a house party, huh?' Well, I'm not one for organising house parties that I have to clear up afterwards plus, parents wouldn't allow it...

Sorry this has been such a long post, don't worry the sun is still shining! When I look outside so many plans spring to mind: picnics, BBQs, ice cream, camp outs, walks, vest tops and flower crowns. *Checks weather forecast...* Ah, this glorious weather is meant to end by the weekend, can I do all of these things in two days? I would love to know what you guys have been up to recently and how you are kick starting your summer.

Thank you all so much for reading,

Capturing Moments

I recently got given a camera for my birthday and I love it! Photography has always been one of my favourite things to do because I love being able to capture moments and to look back a them. Today I wanted to share with you a couple of photos I have taken in the last month. Enjoy :)

I hope to carry on taking photos as a hobby and will update you with all my good ones :)
Thank you for reading and I hope you have a good day.

3 Healthy Summer Snacks

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a wonderful May. I am currently on my half term holiday and loving having a bit of time off school. Also the weather was brilliant for a couple of days, pure blue skies. I even ventured out and put on a sleeveless top!! But now as I look outside I see a slight breeze and plain white sky. Fingers crossed the sun will be back! I have taken quite a few summery photos as well in the last week and would love to share a few with you. Anyway on with today's post...

So Summer is coming and I suppose this is a chance to 'get fit' and eat 'healthily'. I'm just going to start at the basics first though. Today I am going to show you what I have been recently snacking on, and they are all moderately healthy!

1. Mango & Passion Fruit Smoothie

You will need for 1 smoothie:
  • 1 mango
  • 2 passion fruits
  • A couple of ice cubes
  • A spoonful of plain yoghurt
Just put all your ingredients in a blender and blend!! If you don't want the passion fruit seeds then you can just use the juice and de-seed the passion fruit before you blend.

2. Peanut Butter Rice Cakes
 You will need:
  • 2 rice cakes
  • Some peanut butter
  • A couple of peanuts
I just spread the peanut butter across the rice cakes and placed three peanuts on top. This is so easy and simple but tastes delicious and is surprisingly quite filling.

3. Frozen Grapes with Yoghurt

You will need:
  • A bunch of grapes
  • A pot of yoghurt (I recommend Greek style!)
I just placed some grapes in the freezer whilst I was at school during the day and when I got home they were frozen but if you only want them slightly frozen, only leave them in the freezer for a couple of hours. I paired mine up with a small bowl of Greek yoghurt and dipped them in it.

This are all so simple and easy to make and are great to have whilst working at home or when you get back from school. I hope you all have a good week!

Just a little thought...

Hello lovelies, I hope you have all had a fabulous week and have a lovely relaxing weekend.

When I got home from school yesterday I made a cup of tea, grabbed a few biscuits, my laptop and loaded up iPlayer. I browsed down the top 40 most popular programmes and one of them caught my eye. It was called 'The C Word' and it was a drama of Lisa Lynch's life and how she fought cancer by writing a blog. It may sound all upsetting and emotional but in fact I didn't come away from it with floods of tears. I came away inspired. I don't want to tell you all too much about what happens in the programme in case you decide to go and watch it (which I highly recommend you do!) but the programme made me realise the great suffering which many families go through linked to cancer. It also made me realise how lucky I am and I never want to forget that little fact. When you sit in exam or sit in your bedroom after a bad day and think the world is ending, you need to remember the positives in life (I know very cliche) but honestly I find sometimes I forget the big things and worry about the little things. Even if at the time you think "I have no positives' remember your friends, family, pets or maybe a holiday you are looking forward to or maybe the fact you can go home and watch Netflix in a couple of hours.

I'm definitely not an expert on expressing words of wisdom but I just think it is so important sometimes to just reflect and remember. I really want to start doing more posts like this so if you have any 'words of wisdom' please do leave them in the comments, I always love hearing what you have to say.

Thank you for reading,

April Favourites 2015

Hello! The end of the month is upon us again, this year is flying by! This month was one of my favourites this year so I thought I would make a collection of products I've been loving ranging from beauty to food. Enjoy :)

1. Zoella Soak Opera
My friend bought this for me for my birthday because she knows I love Zoe. I hadn't actually got round to buying any of Zoe's beauty products yet but I am now officially in love with Soak Opera! The smell and texture are just gorgeous. It moisturises and clenses, perfect for a cosy bath or quick shower.

2. Super Fruity Cranberry Body Mist
This smells amazing. Fresh, fruity and lovely! It is a perfect size to fit into your handbag or school bag and really freshens you up. The only negative I would have against this product is that the scent doesn't last too long. You can purchase this in Boots.

3. Barry M Gelly Nail Polish - Prickly Pear
Since I only own one gelly nail polish I thought I would treat myself and purchase another one in Boots. When I saw this shade it instantly reminded me of Spring,a subtle colour but still bright. I would describe it as a light lilac.

4. Chupa Chups
These lollies have such nice flavours! My favourite has to be cherry but I still absolutely love all of them and this month I have found myself eating them a lot more than usual ;) You can purchase them in any store or small sweet shops.

5. Aromatherapy Candle - Energising
My mum got this for me for my birthday and I LOVE the scent! It doesn't actually tell you what scent it is on the tin but I'm guessing it is fresh grapefruit. I prefer fresh scented candles as they make you feel more awake and productive.

6. Charbrew Tea - Strawberry and Kiwi
I saw this and instantly wanted to try them. I am all about experimenting and trying different fruit/herbal teas. And I have to say this is such a nice, natural fruit tea. At the moment I am clutching a cup full of this sweet tea :) The tea bags are delicately filled with actual chopped dried fruit and herbs which gives off a wonderful sweet taste.

I hope you have enjoyed looking at my favourites from this month, thank you for reading, and I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Over the Spring Break my family and I took a trip up to the Isle of Skye which is a beautiful island off the west coast of Scotland. It was a very long drive up there but it was worth it to see the beautiful scenery. We had really great weather which was very lucky since previously this year they have had wind, rain and snow! I thought I would do a few posts on the photos I took there so I can share my experiences with you lovely bunch. I hope you enjoy them, I certainly enjoyed going up to Skye and taking them!

This was a pretty waterfall tumbling off a cliff into the sea

The view from the north island into the Atlantic Ocean

The harbour at a small town called Portree

The beautiful sunset over the mountains
Thank you for reading, keep an eye out for Part Two next week!

The other day the sun was out and it felt like the first signs of Summer. My best friend and I were thinking ahead and going through all the fun activities we could do in the Summer together and we decided to write a list, like a bucket list. I thought I would share a few ideas with you and see what you think. I hope this inspires you to do lots of nice things this Summer with your family and friends.
  1. Have a picnic
  2. Camp out in the garden in a tent
  3. Watch a sunrise
  4. Star gaze
  5. Make an ice cream sundae
  6. Take a walk through the woods
  7. Go on a bike ride
  8. Swim in a river
  9. Film a minute every time we do something together
  10. Take lots of pictures
I think this is a great idea to do with your friends as it brings you together more throughout Summer and it also makes lots of memories you can treasure forever. Thank you for reading, see you soon!

Hello! Is it officially Spring yet? I walked out the door the other day and suddenly I was hit with warm, golden light that was streaming through the budding trees. The birds were tweeting and there were lambs in the fields! There was a faint haze on the horizon and I could see for miles into the clear blue sky that had one small aeroplane trail across it like a line of candyfloss. I am lucky enough to live in a beautiful area in the north of England with small, narrow lanes and high, tangled hedges. I just wanted to share the Spring spirit by writing a post. All these signs instantly make me think of the long days of Summer...yes I said Summer! It is on the horizon! Shops are starting to stock their Spring/Summer collections which I love:) All these factors make me so happy. Spring is just a time of the year where you can freshen everything up and change your wardrobe from the fluffy sweaters to floral shorts. I will miss Winter and the dark evenings but I am looking forward to Summer and all its delights. I may say all this but in actual fact British Summers aren't all sun and warmth. There are the days where you sit inside and watch rain pour down your windows. This just makes warm days and golden evenings even more special.
Sorry this was such a random post but thank you for reading!
